Jephthah’s Vow (Judges 11) Theme: Wisdom matters in leadership decisions. Jephthah was a brave warrior, but his early life was marked by rejection. Because he was the son of a prostitute, his brothers drove him away from home. He fled and gathered around him a group of outcasts, becoming their leader. When Israel was later attacked by the Ammonites, the elders came begging Jephthah to lead them in battle. At first, he reminded them how they had cast him out but they promised to make him ruler if
