Issa militia from Ethiopia today captured two Oromo individuals in Awdal, Somaliland. The militia was mobilized by Ugaas Mustafe, the Issa leader based in Dire Dawa, following his calls to wage war in Awdal amid the Dire Dawa authority dispute with the Oromo. Days earlier, Ugaas Mustafe gave interviews rejecting Oromo claims over Dire Dawa after PM Abiy described the city as Oromo.
